This month, we celebrate Wagih Mounir Yassa, the Egyptian-Canadian artist whose expressive portraits and experimental vision continue to enrich the contemporary art scene.

Born in Cairo in 1955, Yassa began his journey in English literature before fully dedicating himself to painting. His path, forged through self-discipline and curiosity, led him to master diverse mediums—oil, acrylics, and watercolors—while focusing particularly on expressive portraiture.
What makes Yassa’s style unique is his ability to merge abstraction with emotional expression. His portraits are not merely likenesses of faces, but visual orchestrations of rhythm, movement, and inner spirit. Each brushstroke carries a musicality, making his paintings feel alive, as though sound and color were in conversation. Through this, Yassa transforms the familiar into something timeless, where identity and memory intertwine.
For him, every exhibition is an experiment—a new attempt to test the dialogue between canvas and viewer. This openness keeps his art fresh, exploratory, and deeply engaging.

Most recently, Yassa participated in a group exhibition at Samah Art Gallery on September 14, 2025, showcasing alongside other contemporary talents. His next milestone is a solo exhibition at Passion Gallery on October 5, 2025, where he will present a new body of work that continues his journey of exploration.

As our Artist of the Month, Wagih Yassa reminds us that art is a living dialogue—never fixed, always evolving, and eternally capable of touching the human soul.
