Artist Hussein Fahmy Guest of the Opening Session of the General Exhibition Cultural Program

In the presence of Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henno, Minister of Culture, and the esteemed artist Hussein Fahmy, the first session of the cultural program for the 45th edition of the General Exhibition will launch under the theme “Visual Art Through the Eyes of Cinema” at 5:30 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art, Cairo Opera House Grounds. The session will be moderated by Dr. Iman Osama, General Commissioner of the current edition.

The discussion will explore several key topics, including:
– The visual artist through the lens of drama and cinema
– Between reality and fiction: how cinema distorts the image of the artist
– The artist as a symbol of resistance and a voice for society
– The role of cinema in documenting the biographies of iconic Egyptian and Arab artists
– Cinematic aesthetics: when the visual image becomes the protagonist of the film

The event, which continues until 7:00 PM, will feature selected film excerpts and an open discussion with the audience.

It is worth noting that Dr. Ahmed Fouad Henno, Minister of Culture, inaugurated the 45th edition of the General Exhibition on June 15 at the Palace of Arts and Bab Hall, in the presence of Dr. Walid Qannoush, Head of the Fine Arts Sector. The exhibition features the participation of 325 artists and a total of 420 artworks across various disciplines of visual art, and will run until mid-July.
