Grand Opening of Difaf Gallery in Zamalek: Bridging Shores of Art Between Cairo and Beirut

On October 1st, 2025, Cairo’s art scene welcomes the official opening of Difaf Gallery in Zamalek, a new cultural destination dedicated to showcasing contemporary artistic voices. The opening exhibition features the renowned master calligrapher Samir Sayegh, a figure whose work celebrates the expressive depth of Arabic calligraphy. This marks the beginning of the gallery’s ambitious program, which will also highlight future exhibitions by seven talented Egyptian artists: Walid Taher Sadek, Mariem Abutaleb, Azza Ezzat, Alia Bassiony, Fatma Bodoma, Nehad Saeed, and Farah El Moatassem.

Beyond its debut in Cairo, Difaf Gallery carries a wider identity. As its name suggests, Difaf—meaning “shores”—serves as a meeting point between the art scenes of Cairo and Beirut, documenting the layered cultures and transformations of both cities.

The gallery specializes in publishing and exhibiting limited-edition art prints, building on the expertise of its partner, Plan BEY in Beirut, which brings over 15 years of experience in design, printing, and publishing. Difaf works hand-in-hand with artists throughout the creative process, producing works that reflect this ongoing dialogue and ensuring that the gallery remains a pivotal player in the region’s creative movement. The Zamalek opening represents more than just an expansion; it is a statement of intent: to create a space where tradition meets innovation, and where Cairo continues to thrive as a hub for artistic exchange.
