Misr Gallery presents “Maqam Al-Noor” — a solo exhibition by artist Gamal El-Khoshn

Gamal El-Khoshn’s exhibition “Maqam Al-Noor” opens at Misr Gallery on October 12, 2025 at 7:00 PM.
The show features 17 acrylic-on-canvas artworks enriched with gold leaf, where the material and the symbolic intertwine. Here, gold becomes more than a visual element: it’s a trace of time, a memory of experience, and a sign of transcendence.

In Maqam Al-Noor, the human body is not merely a visual subject but a luminous being, immersed in a meditative stillness. It folds inward, burdened with time, yet surrounded by golden halos as if light insists on emerging from within. White lines pierce the compositions, breaking the silence and opening the body to another realm—a space beyond form and color, touching the essence of meaning. Every texture becomes a poem, every face a mirror, every void a window into another world.

This is not a conventional exhibition, but a spiritual and visual journey where light is not a tool of vision—it is the subject itself. The body turns into a vessel of the soul, a sacred maqam where matter dissolves in radiant revelation. It is a meditation on beginnings: when light was the origin of existence, and the body its mirror. Since the moment light touched clay, humanity has been seeking a sun within and a shadow that gives the night its meaning.
